Wow what a nice and quiet week it was at the school with everybody gone. And it started perfectly with a workout bright and early. Then we had a game against a second division team. We lost by 1 and I had 5 goals I think. Maybe more. Other than that this we week we went to a museum almost every day. It was kind of nice. We still had training because most of the handball players stayed back from the trip to sunny Spain. I was happy I got to stay I got to see Denmark’s first snow. It was like training to come home. Which is only 6 more days. But Tuesday we went to the old city. Its like a little town they reconstructed in the middle of downtown here in Arhus.I then had club training that night. It was kind of cool but Wednesday was way cooler and more fun. Ewwwwww not for me Wednesday was also a fun day. We had a little obstacle course. I got third, one of teachers whooped my butt but you guys know I wasn’t really trying. We also played indoor football but I am not so good at that. Later we went to a thing with the stars for some reason I forgot English. Then there was a exhibit on the human body and stuff it was pretty cool. I also got to see what I would like 9 months pregnant. Thursday was a Viking museum. It was nice cause it was something different however still very boring. But I still had a good time joking with the guys touching things that had a no touch sign you know. And of course I had training that night.
Friday was a calm day and more importantly. We had our last school training and we had to clean a little around the school to prepare for the other kids to come home from their trip. But later we got to go watch a top division game like 45 mins outside of the city. We got free tickets because one of our coaches is one of the the coaches on the team that was playing that night. It was pretty crazy I was 1 of like 2500 I think. And the other team that was whooping my coach’s team is in champion’s league. It was awesome. Saturday there was a school prom. Everybody got all dressed up in suits and fancy dresses and us cool international kids pulled off the dress shirt and jeans look. I had to take one from one of my friends and he’s a little skinny so the shirt was a little tight and I looked ripped. And of course I went to bed kind of early because I had a game in the morning. It was really nice though oh and they had a live band but no like a rock band. It was like a band. Sunday the school was dead until I got back from my game like an hour before dinner. The game went good we won by four and I had 3 goals didn’t play much left wing. But yo I took this shot before halftime from 9ms with a wall put it top cheese c-bar down. Oh it was so dope. But that was basically my week now I just bee chilling for six days and then its time to come home. See yall soon.

Tyrell Johnston Blog#15

Hey everbody mark it in your calenders dec 18th at 1050 pm ill pulling into Edmonton. Knowing my luck with flights it will probably be delayed. But anyway ive never been more excited to come home but I got some worj to finish up before I leave. That’s to play two more games and hopefully we win. Lets get this blog started. Well start from Monday evening in our school game.we won by A LOT. I had 10 goals but it was against u18s and they defintly could’ve used Jordan. After that game I was beyond tired and you guys guessed it I went to sleep.
The rest of the week was busy around the school but for me it was the same. The whole school was preparing to go to club los santa but us cool 16 kids stayed. Its nice that 8 of us are handball players so we still have training and everything. Tuesday had an interesting start to the day though we had a handball day. It started with all the handball players having breakfast together but I heard the principal say my name and I look and hes reading from a newspaper article. The article said something along the lines of “the Canadian Tyrell Johnston fly his way to 10 goals on Sunday”. I think there was a little more but I was just happy they acknowledged my mad hops. Later in the afternoon there was a mini handball tourney I didn’t play cause I had a game later that day. No about the game I don’t have that much to say about it because it was a game we should’ve won and we lost. However they were the Danish version of the wanderers. I swear ive never played such a slow handball game. And I like broke me hip cause there was a collision with the goalie on the fast break. And yeah the red card rule does work but I'm not sure if it was worth it. It hurt. Now Wednesday was chilling and Thursday we had training as usual and club training in the evening. I went to bed around 130 and my roommate thought he was a funny guy cause he was leaving for the school trip at like 4 in the morning and around 3 in the morning him and 2 others scared the shit out of me. It was funny but I'm gonna get him back when he comes back on Friday.
Speaking of Friday it was the start of the weekend and what a start that was. Training was kind of weak because we didn’t have a goalie. But yo with everybody in the school gone we can do whatever we want. We are like bosses. And there aint even no snitches, its quite nice. Friday was a good day. Same with Saturday went and worked out and then just sat on my comp all day wathing handball and doing nothing it was so nice. Sunday I went to watch my homies play in the second division and they actually won. Ive never heard of a team that draws as many games as they do. Then I watched amovie and just chilled till I got tired. Then I went to bed basically that was my week but yo now its time for dinner and I'm helli hungry so until next week peace out a-town.

Tyrell Johnston Blog#14 From Aarhus Denmark

Whooooooo! I love Denmark, especially seeing that it hasn’t snowed yet. Even though its rainy and real windy I'm happy with the weather still. This week was quite interesting. It was a little tougher then usual because I got sick. I think it was from being inside the lake and being outside for like 24 hours but whatever what can you do. This week was pretty good handball wise and nice and chilling outside of handball. Anyway lets start this run down of the week.
Monday was like any other Monday except I was well rested because I did not have a game for the second weekend in a row. In the morning I went and worked out so I could get deezed. Then we had the some assembly about something. After lunch we had training. And it was an excellent training. Now that I think about it all the trainings this week were really good. After that I was just chilling. Tuesday was the same as usual except I dint goto club training cause I felt like crap dont worry I feel good now. Wednesday still feeling sick I slept until we had an assembly. Yeah that means I missed a early morning workout. But then the rest of the day was nice we also had a professor come to the school and do a lecture about drugs and stuff…. I think. Then I had some cake and went to bed. Thursday was a good day I felt a lot better but then at training when the coach reads out whose playing that weekend the guys tricked me and told me I'm playing with the second team and I was beyond confused it was pretty funny now that I think about it. Friday we had a training in the morning for some reason nobody could catch the ball no matter what. And it was still an awesome training. For the night I just hung around the school and did nothing. Samething goes for Saturday but it was a good day. Went and watch my homies play in the second division. They tied and I saw this dope right winger he was sick reminded me of me. Just kidding. Then I came back to the school and they were having some huge xmas dinner so I ate like a king. Then there was a gangcrawl. So like a pubcrawl but from room to room. But us handball kids were to cool to take part. We thought we were just gonna have a super party but then we said forget that. Later that night me and America crashed the other parties in our boxers it was hilarious. I'm sure theres gonna be pictures up on facebook. I then went to bed but some kids thought it was cool to hang out in mine and mads’ room when we both had to goto work in the morning. By work I mean the good stuff. Sunday was a very good day in the office. I got to play like 45 mins at left wing. I had 10 goals and one of which was the goal of my life. It was dope I don’t think ill be able to repeat such a masterpiece. I then came back to the school and just kicked it. I was straight chilling like a villain but I was sooo tired so I ahd to goto bed. But now its time for me to just hang and rest I have another game today and tomorrow. So I gotta stop writing now peace out homies.

Hey everybody yall freezing yet? Well don’t feel so bad its getting colder here too but it is not the same at all. Only thing is its windy here like every day no matter what. Other then all the wind everything here is going really good. Especially handball its awesome to play this much. Again this week wasn’t any to special. Except on the weekend I went to visit my friend Casper that I play team Canada with. And the great Britain national team was here for training because one of our school coaches is their coach as well. The rest of the week was a bore.
Monday started with the early morning workout which was early. But then we had the boring assembly and training in the afternoon. We then watched the girls team play an exhibition match. I think they lost but I don’t really remember. Then it was Tuesday and we had our team training in the morning and then I had club training that night also except it was much shorter then usual. Wednesday was a little different. We had early morning workout but I did not go because I had a 3rd division game that evening. Which was shit because we lost to a team we probably should’ve beaten by at least 5. I had 2 goals. One goal from both of the wings. But oh I hate losing games like that. Thursday training was players who wanted to play got to play with the girls in an exhibition against the British girls. Yeah we won! Oh btw playing with a size two is sooooooo odd. Later that day we had team coach and club practice was cancelled because we had no game on Sunday so we had no practice. It was chilling and a nice rest. And there was cake at the school that day.
Friday morning I went and workout in the morning before training. Yea one day I'm gonna be beast. Then had a 5 man training but it was really good and pretty intense. After that I went to lunch and hung out for a bit before I went on a mission to fredricia. It’s the city that casper plays for. Its also the same club that’s an hour away that I practiced with. They won by 2 or three and it was awesome to see that game they had like the fog and everything for the player introductions. And there was 900 people watch so it was cool. And I'm happy his girlfriend was there so I wasn’t sitting by myself. After we ate with the team and took the train to his house. Which is in another city called odense. About 40mins away. Saturday was an excellent chilling day watching handball and movies all day. Just what the doctor ordered. After we made chicken burgers sooo good. Sunday I came back to school and didn’t do much at all just heard some stories from the party the night before. But I think I had a better. But it looks like its time for dinner now so I gotta go get my eat on. And we have a game tonight so wish me luck.

Tyrell Johnston Blog#12 From Aarhus Denmark

Howdy! Hope all is well hope all the teams at home are continuing to work. Especially the jr men you know I need a team to come back to. But anyway let’s get this blog start seeing that it takes me about 2 hours to write. Just kidding that’s not true. But damn why Mondays gotta start so early. Of course I had my early morning workout on Monday followed by some sleepy time because Pilates isn’t really for me. Then we had another whack school assembly. I swear those drain the life out of me. In the afternoon we had a practice with sk Arhus girls and one of them made me bleed. I’ve never been hit so hard in my life. Okay that’s not true either well the getting hit hard part. She really did make me bleed. She just scratched me on my neck. Later that night we had a game. We won by 8 or 9. Started off strong had maybe 7 or 8 goals. Then I forgot how to score against a goalie it was like shooting on Jordan. So I probably 8 or 9 goals with like a 60%. But that’s life I guess.
Tuesday was nothing more than average. Training in the morning but we did footwork and passing with those stupid medicine balls. Then we watch the school girls lose to the u16 prospect girls. Then we had Danish team coach class and then I had training that night such a nice Tuesday. Wednesday was chilling. I think its my favourite da of the week. Workout in the morning makes me feel fresh and accomplished. Then we had Danish history reminded me of my glory days in highschool. Then we had he rest of the day off an I just rested. Which brings us to Thursday. Were we had training in the morning and it was very individual. Then I had team coach class and then training that night. I think it was the worst practice I’ve ever had in my whole life.
Friday was nice. Why? Because it’s the start of the weekend. The weekend started with training at 930 but I knew we were doing footwork again so I went and lifted before. After that I refereed my first game in Denmark. Yeah and I got to throw out a 2 minute A-unit style. And then she disagreed so I gave her the Kate Fenton stare down. Like a boss. Any longer she would’ve got the g money double 2. But yeah then I just hung out the rest of the day. Actually it was a pretty famous day here in Denmark called jday. Its when the xmas beer comes out and its like a big thing. So me and roommate went downtown at like 8:30 because the beer got released exactly at 8:59. But we went to the wrong bar and they released the wrong kind. But then we found a tuborg (the famous Denmark beer) truck. We decided to follow it and then it stopped. And the back opened and people started throwing xmas hats off the truck. Yeah I got one. Then we went inside the bar and we got free beer!? Thank god garret wasn’t with us. Then we tried to steal this awesome sign before we left. But we couldn’t cut the string so we just came back to the crib. We were back by 10pm so we made French hot dogs and watched a movie then went to bed. Saturday my roommate a race I was gonna go but there wasn’t enough room in the car so I just slept in and hung out all day. Later that night there was a party I went but had a big game in the morning so I was in bed by 12:30.
Now Sunday was like anyday after a party at this school. Dead till about 12 earliest. Then I went for pizza with some of my homies before my game. The game was actually crazy even though we lost I wish I could play a game like that every day. It was a home game and there was around 300 people watching. We had a slow start it was 3-0 for them but then it was most the game at half time it was 11-10. We were up by 2 at one point but then we got some 2 minutes. And we lost by 2 it was a tough game and a rough game. But it was worse because it was against the top team and if we won we would’ve been in first place but I guess we’ll stay in a 3 way tie for second. After that I went to watch the second team because one of the boys from school is playing with them and the coach wanted to watch him. Our club rapped them. Wait can I use that word on these. But yeah the score was 39-18 or something like that. Then I came back to school and attempted to eat the saltiest pasta ive ever tried in my life. Blaaaaggghh. After about 6 bites I went to bed. That sums up the week and now its time for me to go later yall.

Tyrell Blog#10 and#11

Blog#10
Good morning Alberta! Lets start this blog with a good luck to da boys going to japan. Damn japan that’s balling. Also Id like to give a shout out to the sr men who are gone for the pan am games. Tough loss yesterday but yo its brazil. Anyway this week was quite an average week except we got to go to the museum. Oh and we got to do kitchen duty this week so awesome haha not but it wasn’t that bad. Also this week half the school was gone on a ski trip and all the sailors were gone for a sailing trip so it was very empty. But lets get this log started. And of course you know that starts with Monday.
Monday started with a beautiful early morning workout which came included with a new workout plan. Its fricken hard like whooowe. After the suicidal workout we had another meeting except I guess some of the other international kids were being naughty cause we got in abit of trouble. Just some stuff about showing up late for partys and not going to early morning workouts. But it wasn’t me I be going to everything. After we practiced that day I don’t really remember how it was but for some reason Danish was cancelled that day. WTF! Its my favourite class. Then it was Tuesday which was as normal as days get. Well here normal, practice in the morning , then Danish team coach class and then club training. These double sessions kill me. But I think it’s a good way to go out. Anyway Wednesday was another crazy workout day then we had our team meeting which was supposed to be in my room but it didn’t happen so I cleaned my room for no reason. well at least my roommate wont be coming home to any unpleasant surprises hehehehe. Then in the afternoon we went to the museum. I thought I was gonna hate it but it had some pretty cool stuff. Wasn’t no museum full of boring paintings that make you fall asleep nah mean. It was dope. And on the top of the museum there was a rainbow prism that you walked on the inside of so you saw the city on the top of the roof it was pretty cool here check it out.

Then we came back for dinner and I did nothing just hung at the crib. By the crib I mean mah room. Of course the rest of trip looked insignificant cause of this. So Thursday was a double training day. They are trying to make the school trainings a lot more individual so it was fricken hard a lot shooting and 1 on 1s. so basically I was dead for practice. Friday was also a really good practice. This weekend I did absolutely nothing. Just hung watched some movies ate some food and some candyu of course but that habit is getting expesive I think its worse then smoking. Stupid Denmark taxes like I'm not even Danish why do I have to pay these dumb taxes for some suga. On Sunday I found out that half the Danish kids have not seen paranormal activity so we watched that Sunday evening it was awesome! Best part was when onne of the guys snuck in the room and scared on of the girls it was like a chain reaction of screams. Haha classic. And I found a great place for strong internet but I still couldn’t watch the Canada sr mens game so dumbe. But that sums up my week and brings to this situation right now doing my blog sitting in my room “all bye myself. I don’t wanna be all by myself.” Such a good song. Oh yeah happy bday to akilla. Consider this shout out a birthday gift.

Blog#11
Hey everybody I hope all is well at home and everybody is training hard. Let me start this blog with this blog is a special edition blog. Its called the radio edition. And I'm sure you all will understand quite quickly. But before I do that let me give a sum up of the week cause we all know that no one understands radio. Monday was workout then practice. Tuesday was handball workout instead of practice and then class then club practice. Wednesday was early morning workout and then so new thing called go tour then Danish then the whole school saw a movie. Thursday was morning training and then team coach class and then club training. Friday was cancelled practice so do nothing all morning then school assembly then the weekend off. Saturday was a game and Sunday was just hanging out. Readers be aware radio version starts now.
Today is Monday morning but I talking about Monday. Wait last Monday like 7 days ago. Well first I woke up so early. Like 7in the morning. And then I got dressed and went to breakfast. After breakfast I went to go workout. And then I came to my room to hangout for an hour. And then we had a school assembly. In the assembly we sing songs together. And people talk about stuff but I don’t know what they really say. Oh and then it was lunch time. I don’t remember what we had but I hope it was chicken. Wait no steak or ribs. Wait that’s not right I don’t know I think it was Danish food. Oh I forgot something. I also brushed my teeth that morning too. Okay after that beautiful lunch we had training and in that training we had a warm up. Then some drills. You know we played handball. After training we had the rest of the day off. And I just hung around the school or did I sit in my room. Umm I don’t remember. Okay this so hard I can no longer continue the special edition. I'm sorry to all my valued readers. Who were loving that so much. But yeah that was my Monday.
Tuesday started with training at 9. I slept till 9 and when I woke I thought I was like half and hour late so I just grabbed my stuff and ran as if mike was my coach. But I was just in time. Yeah buddy. After training we were supposed to have the go tour but we are in Denmark so it just so happened to be raining that day. And instead we had an assembly about super oranges grown in Sweden so you get maximum performance out of them. Hehehe just jokes we had a school assembly where we learnt the rules for the go tour. Then we had Danish team coach class and we had a guest speaker from the Denmark national team of table tennis. Then that night we had training. Wednesday was the day of the go tour. Basically we got this really odd map with drawings of random intersections and some rules that you have to keep walking. And turn left at T intersections. Anyway it was just a nice walk with teams that were put together the day before. This walk was most important because I learnt some dirty Danish sentences. Ironically enough I had Danish class after. Thursday was the average Thursday training (against the professional girls team) then lunch then team coach class and then club training. This day includes sleeping in between all of that. You know some days I just ask myself what would Shaq do. That brings us to the weekend bright and early Friday morning.
I have to start Friday morning off with the words mind fuck. On Fridays we don’t usually start until 9 or 930 but for some reason we were supposed to start at 8. Then we found we don’t have a gym and no coach so training got cancelled. So i just hung out all morning and worked out later that day. Saturday I had my second official handball game in Denmark. I had 4 goals but they only put 3 on the stats. Oh well. I went 1/3 from right wing and 3/3 on fast breaks. I be playing on top of the defense just like my man criss cross for the national team. Except I make it look better. Speaking of which that night I watched the senior men beat usa again. I was quite satisfied with that seeing that I was watching it with the guy from the states. Then there was a party at the school and one of my roommates only weekend off he took advantage of it. Sunday I got up at 930 and went to breakfast. Then I went to work out and I went to shoot but there was a u16 team in there. It kind of mad me mad because on the gym schedule it was supposed to be open time. After that I just hung out with the boys for a bit did some flirting then took a nap. That night we saw paranormal activity 3 and holy shit that movie is serious. If you haven’t seen it that’s something you need to do. Boys having trouble getting your girlfriend to cuddle with *cough cough* matt and suroosh. Take your ladies to the movies. Just joking again but its time for me to go bye bye yall.

Tyrell Blog#8 and#9 from Denmark

Hey everybody sorry I didn’t do a blog last week the wifi at the school was broken for like 6 or 7 days. So this is gonna be a super double blog and its gonna have two weeks’ worth of lack of shinadigens. So lets start wit Sunday on the second of october. As I said on my last blog the whole school was going to this place called sletten where its like a week off from training and we do forest activities. Except it was like a 50 km bike ride, god thing is I drove down with some of the others guys also had a game that day. The game went good I think the team won by lost by 3 even though we were winning the whole game it was rough and it was against the team that got bumped down from the second division. But sitting on the bench was cool I wish I could’ve played. But after that we drove to sletten and slept outside in the forest like tarzan. Just jokes only the kids who are taking outdoor did that we all had our own rooms or we could’ve slept in the gym and that’s where I slept with the rest of the cool kids.
Monday morning came and had breakfast and started the morning by singing a song together. We do that a lot I think I may have a voice like an Angel by the time I get back (as I'm shaking my head no). Then we broke into groups and had different stuff to do throughout the day. First we went into the forest and did a kind of obstacle race then we did old Danish games. Just to learn a little about their culture it was pretty nice. After that we created a dance as a group it was very nice. Your right I lied it was very awkward but kind of funny. Then we finished the day with a orientating race. We had to run and find these points it was a different way of jogging but it was just a small one that took 20 mins or so. After that everyone just hung out in the main hall and we played board games talked just had a gay ol time. Night time was pretty fun we broke into new teams again and played a fake drug smuggling game. Basically we ran through the forest in the dark with plastic baggies in our pocket it was pretty fun. Our team got second I think we would’ve won if I wasn’t afraid of the dark. Cause I'm a natural born hustler. Anyway Tuesday was basically the samething except in the afternoon we had an option on what we wanted to do. I did the o race again except it was a lot harder because there a was so many hills and the points were a lot farther apart. This one took about an hour. In the morning we went to Denmark’s highest mountain and climbed it aka a decently high hill. One high enough wee you couldn’t well actually shouldn’t go sledding down the hill. Tuesday night we just had a fire. Wednesday morning we played this crazy game its difficult to explain basically we ran through the forest trying to get balloons and trying not to get an egg broken on our head. That was my only goal but when we got back and I thought the game was over someone just walked up behind me and did it anyway. Sp I ran my ass off for nothing but it was all in good fun. The afternoon was also fun we had a cake making competition and team north America made an excellent cake it tied for first but I think it was rigged cause all the other teams voted for themselves. Then Thursday morning we came back and it was home weekend so a lot people went home right away I stayed and went to training that night with my club.
Being back at the school was nice all the international kids and some the Danish kids just hung around doing nothing. Saturday we went down town for 2 birthdays it was fun. Oh before that I cleaned my room and *found* an extra mattress and an extra pillow. I sleep so well now. Then in the morning I went to another game to sit on the bench because I still didn’t have my player’s license. It was our first home game there was probably around a 100 people watching and the coach said that was disappointing for the club. But the team won and I don’t remember the score but it was good for the team. After that I just hung out with my roommate. And did nothing it was nice but that brings us to this week.
The week went back to normal in our workout days we did max testing again so we could get a new program all my stuff increased by at least 5 kilos I think. Then practice in the afternoon and nothing in the evening. Tuesday we went to practice but we have no goalie at the school and only four guys were going to train that day because of various reasons so we went to the gym together and the coach gave us some handball workouts which was awesome except I was super sore after. Then later that day we had Danish team coach class and then training that night. When the coach picked me up he had some good news for me and it was that I got my players license. I was super happy and so was the rest of the team. Wednesday was the same as usual workout in the morning and then an assembly. Then lunch then Danish lessons. Which is still hard but its getting a lot better well my pronunciation is still terrible. Now that I think about it this week flew because magically it was Thursday. Thursday we had training in the morning we had a 2nd division train with us. Yo this man was huge like head at the crossbar and shit. And we also trained with the professional women again and it was a fricken good training I was tired as hell after because it was all fastbreaks. Then we had Danish team coach class and it was average. Then I had club training and I think it was the worst practice I’ve ever had cause I was tired! I think I hit the net like twice. Ive never been so happy to get to my bed.
The weekend was almost as lame as the rest of the week. Friday morning was a shitty practice as well but it was more because everyone was so tired after the double session the night before. After that I made plans to goto odense to see my homie casper but I had to be there at 445 and cause of debit issues at the train station I missed the train I needed to catch so I came back to the school. I was a little disappointed but I ended up going to the schools role party. My role was bob marley and it was alright I guess I wish I got someone bad ass like tpain. Saturday was the most laziest day of my life I basically just watched movies all day. Basically it was a damn good day. I woke and watched another movie and then I went to my game it was nice to have to pack my game stuff. When we got to the gym I got my jersey I felt so official. I'm wearinig number 7 it’s a perfect jersey for me because it’s a 3xl. But I played around 45 mins. I had 4 or 5 goals some steals and a few turnovers but it happens. I played a little left wing as well so it was good. I think we won by 7 or 8 maybe more. I think I'm getting sick cause I was so fricken tired for some reason. but at half time some little Danish boy came and gave me a high five I thought it was pretty cool. But now I'm here just watching handball and going to watch another so ill holla at yall later 1 love.

Tyrell Johnston Blog#7 From Aarhus Denmark

Hey everyone this week has been pretty dull. Dull as in I love it here but it was pretty much the same as every other week nothing to exciting. So I imagine this blog will be a little shorter than usual. Well let’s get it started then. Monday was early morning workout then handball in the afternoon. One of our main coaches is gone all week so we had another coach. He was a really good coach. Then Tuesday we had handball in the morning and then Danish team coach class then followed by club practice. Next day was Wednesday it was a nice rest day as usual other then early morning workout and then followed by some r and r my favourite thing. Thursday we had practice with the professional girls again except they were missing some players because team Denmark had a tournament. Which just so happened to be in Arhus but at this point I haven’t got to go watch it yet. But we did team fast break drills against each other and then we scrimmaged for two 15min halves. Playing much better than last time I do believe we won both but I can’t be too sure. Friday we had early morning practice but it would our last practice till next Friday because we (the school) are going to a place called sleatten. So we played games against each other and of course my team dominated. It feels quite good to be a winner.
Sleatten (ignore the spelling) is a nature place where we are spending the week. Well until Thursday morning when we will be biking back. The full years who have gone before say it is awesome so I hope its something special. But this also means I wont be practicing till Thursday after noon. Good thing about it is its 50 km a way and we’re going by bike. Oh you guys didn’t really believe that as if I’d be happy to bike 5okms I don’t think I could walk 1. It’s a damn good thing I get to go by car because I have a game this afternoon. Although I don’t think ill be playing because of documentation issues. Anyway lets get back to the rest of the week.
Friday afternoon we had a school assembly. Later that night there was a school party. Pf course I went however I only made a guest appearance and did not party with all my Danish friends. Um Saturday I got up bright and early to do some laundry and clean my room. It was nasty. After that I went with my friend to bet on the semi-finals of the international tournament here in Arhus. It was France vs Russia and spain vs Norway. It was a shame because I think France and Russia were the best two teams. And by that I mean they were amazing and they were straight up beasts! But yeah after that I hung out at the school and watched some soccer. Then I went to bed and woke this morning to watch everyone leave on their bikes (hehehehehe). And now I'm here waiting for my coach to pick me up for the game. And I still have a little laundry to get done before i leave so I gotta go now . later yall.

Tyrell Johnston Blog#6 From Aarhus Denmark

Dear world last night I got my disco on. But that story can wait till after the basic run through of the week. This weekend was kind of crazy but I can’t right every story in here or I wouldn’t sleep till like Wednesday. But lets start with Monday. On Monday I had a nice workout as early as it was. Then we had a school assembly where I catch up on my nap time seeing that most of it is for the Danish students anyway. I'm not sure if that’s really true but that’s my excuse for napping. Anyway then we had lunch and then handball in the afternoon. After handball we had a Danish test to see what level we are at. My teacher said my level was high for a Danish challenged boy just kidding. However it was higher then everyone expected including me but it was like that for the whole class. Anyways that test was fricken hard I just guessed the whole time. After that I just hung around the school. Tuesday was the average day, Handball in the morning and Danish team coach class in the afternoon. I didn’t goto club practice that night because they coach was sick so I had no way of getting there seeing that its about 45 mins from the school. Wednesday was a rest day so I rested and I rested quite well. Wait I had a workout in the morning. Just like last week the Danish kids had to goto a play and all us cool international kids just watched a movie together. It was a very nice day. Thursday had a little twist to it.
So it started with practice at 8 in the morning but we were practicing with one of the girls top division teams. They were fresher then fresh. It was the team we watched last Sunday and again one day kraig youll be as good as them. Wait that means me too. In the practice we did a team fast break drill they beat us all three times. Then we played 2 halves against them we lost the first one then won the second. Then in the afternoon that day I had a friendly match with my club team. We won by 2 I think and I had 1 goal (I wanna be like shaq). Except shaq wishes he had right wing credentials like I do. Then it was Friday. Friday was a little different we had our first school game. We won by like 3 I think. I didn’t start but I played 45 minutesish and had 2 goals. We played against another school like the one I'm at. After that I went to the center with my future wife hehehe to the center by the school to buy some disco clothes for the disco party but I didn’t find anything. Then I made plans to go downtown but I got to tired so I went to bed. I probably would’ve gone if my roommate was here but he had a race in Copenhagen. Saturday morning I went downtown to buy disco stuff. I only bought a 100% gay hat and some super cool glasses that Courtney would totally be jealous of. I also had to buy some new shoes cause mine broke earlier this week and I got sick of taping my shoe. That’s right Tyrell is wearing handball shoes. Then it was disco night at the school and what can I say about that night? CRAZY!!!!!!!! But that’s a when I get home story. Now I'm finally at today which was the laziest day of my life. Me and some of the guys went for pizza at lunch it was a nice change of pace. Then we watched a couple of movies and some nfl. It was was a solid week. Until next time yall

Sup my peeps. This week was some old crazy s**t. actually not really at all but it was a solid week. Except for the weekend it was pretty busy. I could use like a solid 2 days to sleep. I’ll just have to go to bed early tonight. Anyway let’s start this week off from where it started….Monday? I'm not sure cause off the early morning workout it still throws me off. It is something I would never ever do at home. After that we had handball in the afternoon. And of course Danish class (my absolute favourite). Then all of a sudden it was Tuesday. This was nice because we had handball in the morning then the afternoon off because the Danish kids had stuff for upcoming Danish elections. What?! Same thing on Wednesday you’ve got to be kidding me. Oh and a day off that nice real nice. Then Thursday was back to work handball in the morning and at night. Oh but we also had our 1 on 1 meetings with the coach which was good and very beneficial. Friday was the best day of the week. Practice got cancelled in the morning so I went to breakfast then slept till lunch but it gets better. Then my club coach picked me for a training camp. Except that afternoon it was a game. We won by about four I had 2 goals. Anyway the camp was about 2 hours away so we stayed there the weekend and had a room where we all played games.
Now Saturday was also a good day. We woke up and went for breakfast then we had a nice early morning practice. Wait it wasn’t that early it was like 10 in the morning but still too early for a Saturday. Then we had lunch and free time. I went to store with a few of the guys on the team. And it was the cheapest store I’ve seen yet while here in Denmark. Seeing that everything here is so expensive here. The prices you pay for top living in the world. The sad thing about it was I didn’t bring any money with me but it’s a good thing I would’ve just bought candy. I know none of you are surprised about that. Anyway after that we had another practice and then we had the most amazing lasagne. Then the team hung around for a bit and when we went back to our rooms I passed out at like 1030. It was a much needed sleep.
Sunday is my church day. Well it was back home (gmoney you know what I'm talking about). But today I made an appearance in church and our team was winning but then the called the game about 2omins in the second half for some reason spoken in Danish so I don’t know why we stopped but we were up 20-19. I had 1 goal and missed the most perfect shot I’ve ever shot from the 9m. It broke my heart but forget about that. After that we had lunch and drove home. And I made it back just in time to watch the girls top division game. And the home team lost by about 10 but damn! They were so good. Matt it’s a good thing you weren’t in net you would’ve cried. And kraig if you’re lucky you’ll be that good one day. But I'm out world, time to kick it with my Danish crew.

Yo yo yo what is up Canada. So today I am pretty tired it was a long but excellent week. So Monday starts with a 730 workout. Way to early but when I'm all ripped and look like superman it will totally be worth it. Then in the afternoon we had practice with the school and I think that was that. Tuesday was morning practice then Danish team coach class in the afternoon (now that its regular school schedule). And then after that I went to club practice with grenaa or granaa (I think that’s the name). It was pretty good and the level is pretty good. Wednesday was another when I woke my arm was hurting a little from shooting so much but it was a handball free day so it was whatever. Then we broke into teams and had a culture day competition. Our group performed a little play and baked a World War 2 cake it was so epic. That night I found out we were supposed to scrimmage against a girls top league team. It was all pretty cool except instead of 9:30 like practice usually is on Thursday we had to be at the gym at 8 in the morning. Now imagine how made everyone was in the morning when there was mistake with the gym time and we basically got up for no reason but it was a nice day got lots sleeping done. I just asked myself what Shaqy bbq or explosive Dan would do…. Wait E.D wouldn’t have gotten up. Then Thursday afternoon I had Danish team coach class again it’s a pretty good class I think I’m coming for matt rufs assistance coaching job. After that it was time for dinner where me and a few guys decided we gonna make or own jersey shore. Except we calling international shore it is gonna be so dope.
This brings us to Friday were our sleep in also got ruined cause they had to start practice early. After lunch we had a school meeting that took about an hour then we had the rest of the time to us. So I just hung out around the school playing pool and foosball. Later that night we played some poker. After that was a just some tv until it was time for bed. Bam Saturday morning game day. That’s right my first game in Denmark we lost by 3 or 4 and I had 1 goal. But it was a tournament so we had another game that we also lost. But I played better I had 4 goals and got my first 2 min in Denmark (gift to all the sr men you would’ve loved it). By that I mean it was a clean hit but the guy hit the floor too hard (if that’s possible) and I got the deuces. When I got home I was a little tired but there was a top league match. It was awesome I can’t wait for the regular season to start I’ll be watching it like every day. Then that night there was a party at the school. I made a small appearance but had to go to bed seeing that I had to get up at like 7 in the morning. And that brings us to today. We won both our games and the team played a lot better then yesterday. We won our first game by like 20 something I had 7 that game. Then our second game we won by like 5 or so I had 0 but I had another 2min not such a good one this time. And that brings me to now. And now its time to shower and go to lunch then do some laundry then the worlds greatest thing…. A nap oh and some massages that I won in a today.

Tyrell Blog#3 from Denmark

Hey everybody did it snow yet? No, us neither but it rains at least every second day. But that is why handball is an indoor sport and this week had a lot of handball. School wise we were still in the intro week but everything is regular starting tomorrow. This means that I start Danish lessons, this could be a problem. Speaking of problems I got some of the Icelandic guys calling me “the problem” (my jersey shore name). Let’s start this week off with Monday morning.
Monday morning was by far the roughest morning of my life. We had an assembly for like an hour and a half. Then we got a ten minute break and had Sports Theory. It was a class about injuries and preventing them that was at least two hours. Maybe it was shorter it’s just hard to keep track of time when your falling asleep. It was like high school all over again. After that we had lunch and after that it was time for handball practice. It was the best thing all day. The rest of the day was just hanging around the school. Then Tuesday started off with breakfast then practice. Then the afternoon was sports theory 2. Thank god it wasn’t like the first one at all. I learnt the most important equation of my life (food+sport+sex+sleeping+drinking=paradise). Coincidence that is what the school is. Later that night I practiced with a div3 club. I don’t remember the name cause I can’t remember any of the Danish names they’re all so hard. Anyway div3 practice was pretty good most of the players were a year or two older than me. They level was pretty much equal to the schools handball level. Next day was a day off. I had our first workout class which is way too early. It’s for all the academy students and I’m sure they all agree with me because it’s at 7:30 in the morning. After that I don’t remember what we did in the morning but in the afternoon the whole school went to play beach volleyball that was a blast. Now Thursday was a good but loooooonnnng day.
So all week I was planning on going to another city about a 100km away to visit and practice with my homie Casper. No Mackenzie not the friendly ghost, my friend from team Canada that plays div1 here in Denmark. Now there’s something everyone has to know about Thursday and Friday. I like to call them the best days because practice doesn’t start till 9:30 even though I still have to get up for breakfast get to go right back to bed after. So after my early morning nap I went practice and there was a new coach that I haven’t seen before and that practice was awesome lots of decision making and shooting (my favourite kind of practice). After practice it was lunch time and right after that I had to leave for Frederica (Casper’s club about a 100km away). Catching the train there was difficult but I finally got to where I needed to go. It was bad cause I was half hour late for practice but I made it. The gym they train in was only about a 10-15 min walk from the train station. When I first walked in the gym I was like why is everyone so big and they're fast too. Maybe I was a little intimidated but whatever they aint shit (don’t tell them I said that). Practicing with them was awesome. I wish I could practice at the level everyday buts it’s just way too far.
Then it was Friday one of the best days. Except for that Friday cause they cancelled practice and called it recuperation day. So everyone from the handball academy just slept until lunch. And then we had a little assembly before the weekend. After that we had the afternoon off and of course there was another party. Well they call it a café. Of course it was a lot of fun. Saturday morning was awkward cause when I woke up the school was like dead there was no one around. Once everyone woke up it was a nice relaxing day. And today is a chilling day but I gonna have to do some laundry and now its time for breakfast. Until next time world and enjoy the heat I know da snow is coming real soon.

Tyrell Johnston Blog#2

Hey what’s up world? First of all let me start with I love it here and the food is so good I’m coming back fat. Everyone here is super nice and very open. It seems like everyone is just here to have a good time. Even though it was a journey to get here, I finally made it. Before I tell you guys about my week let me start with getting here.
So it all started with the stupid airport rule with 50 pounds max; but, how do live for 4 months with that little of stuff? But that was whatever because I just carried 2 carry-ons and it wasn’t even a problem. After a nice 8 hour flight I arrived in London and got on my next plane. Super tired I went to sleep before take-off and woke up 3 hours later still on the ground. Yeah that’s right the plane broke so I had to stay the night in London and miss my connecting flight. The next day we finally left and they didn’t book my connecting flight to Arhus from Copenhagen. So once I got my flight for that I made it to city. So now im taking the city transit and I was the bus driver which way to catch the bus and he says catch this one (I wish I knew he didn’t speak English before). After finding out I was going the wrong way I got off the bus got on a new one and found a new bus driver that actually spoke English and brought me to the school. I think that whole day was the best part of the trip. Not.
Anyway so this week was more of a meet and greet. The first morning the whole school met in the gym for some physical activity. It was very easy just some games and dancing so people could meet each other. After that we had an assembly where we met all the teachers (I still can’t pronounce their names). Then it was time for lunch and then the best part of the day handball. Practice was good after the coaches walked up to me and was like ``you are from Canada, they have handball in Canada``. They then told me I was a good player and that were impressed. So the first practice went pretty well. Tuesday was almost the same thing except we had practice in the morning and we went for a walk around the city and went for a picnic. Wednesday we had the option to go for a jog or to go to yoga. Not wanting to run I went yoga but I don’t think I’ll be doing that ever again. Later that day we found that we were going camping for Thursday night and that there was an amazing race and we had to bike all over the city. Thursday was super fun and it was good because we were in teams so I met a few more people. Friday morning we woke up and it was raining pretty hard but we had leave so we could meet the other teams for breakfast so we biked in the rain. After breakfast we bike like 6-7kms in the rain it was fun. After we all went swimming and the teachers organized a welcome dinner for us with a little party after. All’s I can say is Danish people party hard.
That pretty much sums up my week Saturday and Sunday are just rest days so ill work out a little. Next week will be more handball but I don’t think the school seriously starts until the week after. And this week I should be practicing with a club team. Stay tuned to find out how it goes. Take care.

Tyrell Johnston Blog#1

Hey everybody
This is my very first blog for my journey to Denmark. Although I’m not there yet I feel like the trip starts before I leave. The hardest thing about getting ready to leave was packing. Like how do you pack for 5 months and I’m almost positive I forgot something. I hope mommy loves me enough to send it. Actually the hardest thing is saying bye to everyone.
So for my final week of Edmonton I tried to see everyone except for all the haters. I also finished my last couple of days of work (which was so much fun). On Saturday my parents let me have a few people over for a bbq so I could say peace out to my homies(why is spell check trying to tell me homies isn’t a word?). I then spent the rest of the week just hanging out having a good time before I left. Except on Wednesday Janet threw a going away bbq for my handball family. That was a good time still can’t believe radio wasn’t there tsk tsk. On my last night I had to kick with papa and the boys. I think he still pretty upset that I slapped him in nhl. That’s right I’m leaving Canada a winner. That pretty much brings me up to today. What do I have planned today? Visiting the fam and doing last minute running around so I can finish my packing.
Now it’s time for me to hit the road but before I do that I have thank all of my supporters and my fans, especially my #1 fan (whoever that is). I’d also like to give a special thanks to mike and Janet because without those two this opportunity wouldn’t even be possible. Until next time Alberta.
